About this event
The Sendai Suzume Odori (Sparrow Dance) Summer Festival fills central Sendai with energetic dance troupes performing the distinctive suzume-odori, a lively fan dance originating from the construction celebrations of Sendai Castle over 400 years ago. Hundreds of dancers in colorful costumes parade through the streets accompanied by taiko drums and flutes.
