About this event
The Kanjadono Shrine Festival at Yasaka Shrine celebrates the deity enshrined in the Kanjadono subsidiary shrine, one of several smaller shrines within the Yasaka complex that have their own distinct identities and faithful devotees. Prayers and offerings are made in a quiet, traditional ceremony that reflects the layered world of Japanese folk religion. It is a reminder that even within major shrine complexes, each sub-shrine has its own living story.
