The Mitama Festival at Yasukuni Shrine is one of Tokyo's most atmospheric summer events, in which over 30,000 lanterns are lit to honor the spirits enshrined there. The shrine glows with warm light as bon odori folk dances, traditional performances, and outdoor stalls fill the grounds. It is one of the city's most beloved summer nights, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors over four evenings.
