Japan's largest dance festival with over 400 years of history, attracting 1.3 million visitors. Hundreds of dance troupes (ren) perform the energetic Awa Odori dance through the streets of Tokushima, accompanied by shamisen, taiko drums, flutes, and the iconic chant. Multiple performance stages and street venues operate across the city center from afternoon into the night.
