About this event
The highlight of Kyoto's legendary Gion Matsuri — 23 elaborately decorated floats parade through the city streets in a spectacular procession dating back over 1,000 years. The Saki Matsuri (前祭) is the larger of the two processions, featuring massive wooden floats adorned with tapestries from around the world.
