About this event
The Gotan-e (Buddha's Birthday Ceremony) at Kenninji Temple honors the birth of Siddhartha Gautama on April 8th. The ceremony, which includes bathing the infant Buddha statue in sweet tea, is held at one of Kyoto's oldest and most historically significant Zen temples.
