About this event
The Gotan-e (Buddha's Birthday Flower Festival) at Tofukuji Temple, held on April 8th, celebrates the birth of Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) with a traditional ceremony in which a small statue of the infant Buddha is bathed in sweet tea (amacha). The temple's scenic gardens provide a beautiful setting for this joyful occasion.
