1000 Days Pilgrimage/Special Visit to the Inner Hall of the Main Hall

Kiyomizudera's Sennichi Mairi is based on the belief that visiting the temple on this single night earns merit equivalent to making the pilgrimage 1,000 times. The inner sanctum of the main hall, normally off-limits, is opened to the public for a rare special viewing. The temple is beautifully illuminated, and the combination of spiritual significance and the breathtaking nighttime view from the famous wooden stage makes this one of the most magical evenings in Kyoto.
