About this event
A UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage dance festival held for over 700 years in the small town of Ugo, Akita. Dancers wear elegant patchwork kimonos and mysterious woven hats or black hoods that conceal their faces, swaying gracefully to haunting melodies around bonfires. One of Japan's Three Great Bon Dances.
